How safe are your Conservatory Windows?
Safety Glass in Conservatories
You may have already paid attention to this when you first decided to install double glazed windows in your conservatory but do you know whether the glass in your double glazed windows is toughened or tempered or ‘ordinary’ glass?
The difference in having safety glass fitted or not is especially important in high traffic areas or where there are children present.
Lower level panes of glass should always be toughened, tempered or laminated glass because they are so vulnerable to contact or accidental damage, with laminated glass being the best option because when broken it completely stays in place.
Tempered glass is a close second because when it breaks it shatters into tiny pieces which represent a far lower level of danger than a razor sharp shard of broken glass.
- If you have glass doors and they are not already installed with safety glass and you want a quick fix then there are lots of window filming solutions that can be used to provide an interim level of protection.
